Camp Purpose:

The Stanford Men's Basketball Day Camp is designed to provide a safe, fun and instructional environment. The campers will be drilled in various fundamentals such as footwork, shooting mechanics, ball handling, passing, movement without the ball, defensive principles, rebounding, sportsmanship, and how to be good teammate. The camp will also feature team competition, with all the campers divided up into grade-based teams. We will also play many forms of 2 on 2, 3 on 3, and individual competitions.  On the final day, there will be an awards presentation honoring various campers for their effort and performance.

Check in:

Check in will be from 8:15 - 8:45 AM outside of Maples Pavilion.  At registration, day campers will be given their team assignments and a camp t-shirt. Basketballs will be handed out on the last day to keep.

Early Release:

If a day camper needs to leave a session before 4 p.m., parents and campers need to check out with the camp director and the camper's individual coach.

Day campers will be dismissed at 4:00 p.m. Coaches will bring their teams outside of Maples Pavilion, where parents will check their camper out with the coach. Please do not come down to the court! The campers will come to you.

Campers are placed on teams according to age, size and ability. Our priority in forming teams is to have balanced competition. Therefore, we do not honor team assignment requests. In some cases, players are “traded” from the team assigned at registration to better balance the competition.

All of our coaches are hired by Stanford University and go through background checks conducted by the Stanford University Human Resources Department.  Our coaches are very experienced.  We have brought in current and former players, high school and junior high coaches from the area, and some small college coaches.  The camp is conducted by our Assistant to Head Coach Tom Orlich, who has over 45 years experience as a camp director.  Our coaching staff is on hand periodically throughout the week.

LUNCH WILL NOT BE PROVIDED, but there will be snack items, drinks, and pizza available for purchase. Day campers are to bring their own lunch. There will be a designated area in Maples for campers to leave their lunch bags.
